At Functional Physio we appreciate that your placing your biggest asset, your body, in our hands. We understand that you may have some questions about our service, how it might be different to normal physio service delivery and what to expect from us.
Here are some questions we’ve been asked before…..
The most common complaint I hear from clients who have lost faith in the Physiotherapy approach include:
- A lack of hands on treatment, feeling as though they were touched for 5minutes and talked for the remainder of the appointment
- Rushed in and out and only spent 15minutes with their physio
- Multiple repeat appointments (experiencing the above complaints) and not really feeling any progress or relevence of their home exercises to their daily activities
At Functional Physio we try very hard to ensure you never experience this frustration! With an upfront, common sense approach to all treatments. Every treatment you spend one on one with the Functional Physio for the full 1-1.5hr appointment. As a small business we understand that costs of treatment can add up, we work effeciently and trust that by giving a comprehensive long session you can avoid numerous appointments per week and work independently at achieving STRENGTH, CONTROL AND BALANCE and come in as recommended (relevent to your condition and goals).
Often people are surprised that a physiotherapist is delivering their full body massage treatment and ask 'are you a real physio?". HaHa
At uni our training as physiotherapists includes soft tissue treatment (different massage techniques for different treating purposes), manipulations (moving joints), exercise prescription for prevention and rehabilitation, injury diagnosis, respitory and management post-surgically, management of the above in babies and children.
With such a diverse skill set I believe it is up to the individual therapist to apply their training in a way that gets the best results for the client. Applying personal experience and further and continuing education!
In my experience both clinically and personally I have found a targeted massage to be beneficial as a starting point with many conditions. Thinking of your physiotherapist for this sort of treatment means accessing the knowledge and skills to progress treatment in a variety of directions based on findings and discussion with myself during the treatment.
When in doubt book in for the general consultation from there we can assess, diagnose and treat as needed. After this we can recommend the best approach going forward wether that be continued treatment in the consultation room or wether its time to get you moving in the gym setting.
Also please feel free to call and discuss your needs beforehand if you are unsure about anything or would like some advice.
The treating room is located within the Noosa Box Office (NBO) gym. This is a huge boxing gym with a fully equiped weights area. Where appropriate you will be performing your rehab, prehab or mobility sessions in this setting. Many clients also go onto join the gym and participate in boxing classes which is a great low impact way to improve your cardio and overall strength! On TUESDAY'S I also treat for the day in Gympie out of Work n Out Fitness Professionals + My Yoga Studio and The Real Body Movement. Same services apply here with x2 great gyms to perform rehab/prehab exercises as needed.
